Dance Class FAQ
A quick run-through of what people most want to know before stepping into a Chester class — the styles on offer, the cost, whether beginners fit in, where we meet and the kit to bring.
Which dance styles can I learn in Chester?
Chester's weekly programme covers 20 styles in total. Across the week you can pick from the full twenty, listed here from A to Z: Bachata, Ballet, Ballroom, Belly Dance, Bollywood, Burlesque, Commercial, Contemporary, Flamenco, Heels, Hip-Hop, Irish Dancing, Jazz, K-Pop, Line Dancing, Pole Dance, Salsa, Street Dance, Tango and Tap. Each is led by a professional instructor and open to every ability, whether you've never danced a step or have years behind you.
What's the price of a dance class in Chester?
A single drop-in is £10, or grab a four-week block for £32 and pocket £8 against paying each time. Nothing is locked in: no contract, no joining fee and no membership to commit to.
I'm a total beginner — can I still come along?
Absolutely. Classes are graded for all abilities and instructors layer every move up gently from scratch, so newcomers settle in happily alongside the regulars. Even if you swear you have two left feet, you'll be in good company, because nearly everyone here began at square one.
Whereabouts in Chester are the classes held?
We're rolling out across the city centre and the surrounding Cheshire areas, with spaces lined up in neighbourhoods such as Hoole, Handbridge and Saltney and within easy reach of Ellesmere Port, Northwich and the Wirral. Drop us a message to flag your interest and we'll let you know the moment classes open.
Is it possible to give a single class a go first?
For sure — the drop-in exists for precisely that. Hand over £10 for one session with nothing to commit to beyond it, then upgrade to a four-week block any time you fancy.
What's the best thing to wear and bring?
Wear anything comfy you can move freely in — leggings, joggers, a tee or a vest top. Footwear is really the only thing that changes with the style. Trainers cover street dance, hip-hop and commercial. Soft socks or ballet shoes suit ballet and contemporary. Slip into heels for the heels and burlesque sessions. Salsa, ballroom and tango all want a smooth sole. Anything else specific, your teacher will mention it when you book.
